The short version. The Video Poker Trainer is a practice tool. It has no advertising, no third-party analytics and no trackers. Your hands, statistics and settings are kept on your own device. The Android app has no sign-in, asks for no personal information, and sends nothing about your play to us or to anybody else.
The Video Poker Trainer is published by SoraShouri LLC, which operates Counter.Software. SoraShouri LLC is the company responsible for the app on Google Play and for the website at videopoker.counter.software, and is who to write to about anything on this page.
Everything the trainer remembers about you is written to your device’s local storage and stays there:
None of this is transmitted anywhere by the Android app. Android’s own backup is the one exception worth naming: if you have Back up to Google Drive switched on, the operating system may copy the app’s storage into your personal Google account so a new phone can restore your progress. That is a transfer between you and Google, controlled by you in Android’s settings — we are not a party to it and cannot read it. Clearing the app’s storage, or uninstalling it, deletes the copy on your device permanently.
In the Android app the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card, your billing address or your Google account. Play tells the app one thing — whether this device’s Play account owns the product — and the app remembers that answer locally so it still opens when you are offline. The price you see is the one Play returns for your own country and currency; it is not written into the app.
On the website the purchase is handled by Stripe, who collect the card details and the e-mail address the receipt goes to. We never receive the card number. What reaches us is the fact that a payment succeeded and the e-mail address you gave Stripe, which is what the link to set up your account is sent to.
The Android app does not offer sign-in and does not create an account. It plays entirely on device storage.
The website at videopoker.counter.software is a separate matter. It does require a Counter.Software account, and once you are signed in that account stores the same progress listed above — statistics, lifetime totals, custom pay tables, tokens and language — so it follows you between browsers and machines, along with the username and e-mail address you registered with. That is the only place your progress leaves your own machine, and only because you asked it to by signing in. The website also records how long you spend in the trainer, so the account page can show it back to you. Accounts are handled by Counter.Software’s own service. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
The Android app declares no camera permission and cannot use your camera. The scanner in the app is the one you type a pay table into.
On the website the scanner can read a pay table off a photograph, and the photograph never leaves your device: it is decoded, cropped and matched entirely in your own browser. If you choose to teach a cabinet — a deliberate action, never automatic — what is sent is not the picture. It is up to 24 tiny normalised bitmaps of individual characters, each a few hundred bytes, with the letter or digit you said it was, the game you were on, and a random identifier for the browser that sent it so two devices can be told apart when they agree. There is no account attached, no photograph, and nothing in it that describes you.
The Android app declares four permissions and none of them is one Android asks you to grant. INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE are the standard pair a web-technology app is built with; the trainer solves every hand on your device and does not require a connection to work. com.android.vending.BILLING is what lets the app ask Google Play about your purchase. The fourth is a self-permission the Android libraries add automatically so the app can register its own internal broadcast receivers; it is scoped to this app’s own signature and gives it access to nothing of yours.
This is a video poker strategy trainer and is not directed at children. It is not intended for anyone under 18. No money is wagered inside it and it pays out nothing: the credits are counters, not currency.
Because the app keeps your data on your device, you control it directly: clear the app’s storage, or uninstall it, and it is gone. If you hold a website account and want it and its data deleted, write to the address below and we will remove it. You can also export everything the trainer holds about you at any time from Settings → Export session JSON, and read it yourself.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top will change, and the current version will always be at this address.
